Dress Code
The dress code is pretty similar to what it says in the handbook but here are just a few specifics.
Ministry Dress Code
Girls need to have long skirts with a non revealing shirt.
Guys need to have nice khaki pants or nice jeans (no holes, rips, or ragged edges) with a nice polo shirt or a button down shirt. For Church services you are NOT ALLOWED to wear jeans and you MUST wear a button down shirt.
Swazis are very clean people and they take pride in their appearance, especially for Sunday church. We have had many teams in the past who come looking very tourist, wearing t-shirts and torn jeans and we are trying to stay away from that look. We have even had some Swazis in the past ask if Americans wash themselves regularly. So please bring nice clothes and look presentable while ministering to the Swazis, we don’t want them thinking we are dirty.
**You can wear knee length shorts and t-shirts on your off days and while around the house.

Can girls ever wear pants? Just trying to nail this code down, because I want to get it right.
Also, how long is “long” for the skirts. Should they just be at least past your knees, or do they need to be all the way to the ankles?

Hey ladies I found alot of long crazy skirts at some thrift stores! so I would totally try lookin at them cuz they are cheap also!!!!!!! =)
im wondering still if jeans and a teeshirt are ok. i thought we were goig to have to wear work clothes. do we have to drees up every day? or just on sundays
also are none revealing tanks ok?

Hey All-
Great questions about dress code. For further clarity, you can read your ambassador handbook and continue to ask questions. Tank tops are not allowed (so don’t waste precious space packing them!), only t-shirts that aren’t revealing and have sleeves. Girls, you are allowed to bring jeans with you, but plan on only wearing jeans during travel days or time off (we won’t have much of that though!). Dresses are acceptable as long as they have sleeves, aren’t revealing, and go to your ankles, but don’t bring dresses if you would be upset about them getting ruined. Bring nice, clean clothing and decently matched outfits, but at the same time, do not bring anything that would upset you if it were to get permanently stained, torn, or ruined.
As some of you mentioned, it’s a very very good idea to go to thrift stores to find cheap and nice-looking skirts.
